 Abstract:  John H. King was a Tuscarawas County, Ohio, resident who served in Company C, 80th Ohio Infantry during the American Civil War. The collection consists of photostatic copies of correspondence between King and his sister Catherine detailing King's Civil War experience. The collection pertains primarily to a soldier's life and military experiences during the Civil War, with respect to forced marches, battle accounts and living conditions, as well as King's ambitions for an Army career.
